Almost all the "self help" that you read will emphasize the importance of "Gratitude", so what exactly happens when you are grateful that it welcomes abundance, how does gratitude transform one's life. Why does keeping a gratitude journal matter?
we will try to answer all these questions in today's discussion.
The very nature of the mind is to "Complain" or let's Para-phrase it to say that the human mind is very aspirational and wants to achieve so many things in a very limited amount of time. So, we automatically tend to appreciate what we have very less compared to what we aspire for, if this aspiration is directed in terms of action, it becomes a fantastic tool to realize what we need in life.
On the contrary, most of them I tend to talk to will only have things to complain about but no action to change it. By complaining you are forcing your brain to look at the voids that you are creating for yourself while forgetting that it is actually directed and dedicated actions that will fulfill that void, In simpler sense, if I need a chocolate, either I have to make one or buy one, sitting and complaining that I don't have a chocolate will not get me one.
How do we change this complain pattern or the Blame phase, the easiest way to do so is to shift your attention to something more positive, that is where gratitude kicks in, if right now you are able to read this piece of work, you are enough privileged to have an access to the technology that vast majority of this population doesn't have! Likewise, if we go on counting the blessings that we have, maybe we would complain less often!
What this habit of gratitude will do to your mind is shift it's attention towards the positives of your life and help you acknowledge where you are right now, I am sure you were not born with all these luxuries or maybe you were! In any case, the important part is to recognize that being grateful or having gratitude continuously puts your positives in focus, You automatically tend to accept the situations as they appear and try to make the most out of it.
Another important change that gratitude brings in one is to become humble to the realities and happenings of life, irrespective of what grave situation you are in, always remember there is someone in this world who is right now in much graver situation than you and me, if you can fall seven times you can definitely rise eight times.
How Do I maintain my gratitude journal?
Everyday at the end of the day I list three positive things, people and events that happened on that day.
It could be as simple as that refreshing cup of coffee that rescued you from a headache or a tiny nap that you were able to take to out-do your stress, it could be the sweepers who keep your workplace clean or a dog who continuously wags his tail until you pet him/her. In this way I look back at my day, how wonderfully grateful I should be for a day like this, filled with pleasant exchange of events.
Over a series of a week, I tend to read back my gratitude journal and understand how flummoxed one should be to see such beautiful week unfold.
This Is the way I like to keep track of things I should be grateful for, there is no rule as to how one should maintain a gratitude journal. You are free to create your simple ways and if it works best for you, great. If you have no idea how to go about it, you could follow the suggestion for a week and make the necessary changes, if needed.
Being grateful makes you realize that you already have enough to be happy and also helps gain more, the more grateful you are, the more abundance you welcome in your life. If you liked this work feel free to share it with everyone so that we can have a world filled with Thankful beings.
